A team of qualified nursery practitioners and nursery assistants care for the children. Our staffing exceeds the minimum required adult to child ratios. We operate a key person system whereby each child and their family is allocated to a specific member of staff. We offer an open door policy and there is always an opportunity to talk to your child’s Key Person or any other member of staff if you would like to do so.The main aim of the team is to ensure that the children entrusted into their care grow and develop socially and academically in a warm caring environment with a curriculum that is designed to meet the development needs of each individual child.
Our staff hold accredited qualifications such as NVQ II & III, CACHE, NNEB, BTEC and Degrees. We recognise that our most important resource are our staff and therefore we are committed to continually develop our staff with ongoing continued learning and training both externally and in-house. Staff also regularly update and obtain Basic Food Hygiene, Pediatric First Aid, Safeguarding and Fire Awareness.
We have a very low staff turnover with a majority of our senior staff remaining with us for a number of years, this enabling us to provide experienced and consistent care. Staff are carefully selected and vetted for their suitability to work with young children in accordance with OFSTED requirements. Which includes obtaining an Enhanced DBS and satisfactory references. We are committed to recruiting, appointing and employing staff in accordance with all relevant legislation and best practise.
We are passionate about developing the nursery and never stand still. We consider the high child to adult ratio and continuity of care from our fun loving, enthusiastic team fundamental to our providing a high quality childcare provision.

“I have sent all 3 of my children to Acorns Day Nursery and I cannot recommend them enough. My children have thrived in the supportive and caring environment provided by the exceptional staff at Nursery. The children have been treated as individuals and their different needs catered for expertly. I have always found the Nursery team to be loving and caring and they are always available for formal and informal discussions about the children. Nursery have provided a wide range of learning experiences for the children, including French classes, Debutots and a visiting farm, to say but a few. I have been impressed with just how well the key workers get to know the children and enjoyed seeing the stages of development achieved in their Learning Journey. Most importantly, the children were smiling when I dropped them off and smiling when I picked them up after having a happy fun filled day.”
“Acorns Day Nursery has played a huge part on our families life over the past eight years. Both of my children have been incredibly happy there and, over the years, the teams dedication to the children and their learning journey has been fantastic. They have not only ensured that my children have been well cared for and happy, but they are equipped with the skills to start school and grow as individuals. I would highly recommend.”
“My son and daughter started at Acorns when they were about one and spent several years at Acorns Day Nursery before leaving for school. They had a lovely time at the nursery, initially upstairs in the baby room and subsequently down stairs in the "Great Oasks" room. The staff were great and provided a super environment for my two to grow and develop.”
