Welcome to our family-run nursery, where we provide excellent facilities tailored for both babies and toddlers all the way up until primary school age. Our bright and spacious environment is designed to foster growth and creativity, ensuring your little ones feel safe and nurtured. With age-appropriate play areas, engaging educational resources, and caring staff, we prioritize the well-being development of every child in our care. Join us in giving your child the best start in their early years!

Little Acorns - Our Baby & Toddler Room

Our homely 15-place baby and toddler room cares for children up to 2 years and 3 months in a bright, calm, and welcoming environment. We provide a dedicated sleep room for much-needed rest, ensuring each child’s day is comfortable and nurturing.

We follow routines that mirror home life, offering consistency and helping children feel confident and secure as they settle into nursery. Our Key Person approach ensures every child builds close bonds with a familiar adult, supporting emotional wellbeing and strong attachments. Staff work closely with parents to maintain continuity between home and nursery.

The room is designed to encourage exploration and independence, with low-level shelving for self-selection of play resources. A wide range of carefully chosen equipment supports individual developmental stages, including open-ended and natural resources for inquisitive little minds. Sensory play is offered daily, allowing children to explore textures through sand, water, paint, gloop, and more.

We maintain strong communication with families through our online diary system, which records sleep times, feeds, daily activities, and developmental milestones, keeping parents fully connected to their child’s nursery experience.

Great Oaks - Our 2-4 years Room

Our Great Oaks Room caters for up to 30 children, providing a nurturing environment where children can explore, play, and learn together. Children enjoy a wide variety of activities and are encouraged to interact across age groups, while also being supported to progress at their own pace. During free play and mealtimes, all children come together, creating a warm, social, “family-style” atmosphere.

The room benefits from its close proximity to our outdoor classroom, offering a seamless indoor-outdoor ‘free flow’experience. The outdoor area extends learning all year round, with spaces to build, grow vegetables and herbs, explore the mud kitchen, ride on trikes, and much more.

Our daily activities and free play cover all seven areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage, encouraging children to take control of their learning. They can self-select resources based on their interests, with a wide range of materials regularly rotated to spark curiosity and imagination.

The Key Person system ensures each child builds strong relationships with staff and peers. Practitioners know each child well and plan individual next steps, using observations to create a personalised learning plan. Provocations are added to extend knowledge and understanding, while a variety of multicultural celebrations help children develop a strong sense of identity and respect for others.

At Great Oaks, we aim to prepare children confidently for school, ensuring they leave ready for the next stage of their learning journey.

Outdoor Play

Our outdoor area is a natural extension of the nursery, offering a stimulating and engaging environment that supports all seven areas of learning. Children can explore a variety of experiences including a sensory zone, sand and water play, creative activities like painting, as well as opportunities to dig, plant, and discover the natural world. There are also quieter spaces where children can relax, chat, or enjoy a story.

All children access the garden every day, whatever the weather, with waterproof clothing provided to ensure they can play comfortably in the rain. Children in our ‘Great Oaks’ room benefit from free-flow access to the outdoor space throughout the day, while babies enjoy dedicated time to explore the garden at their own pace.

We also make the most of our local environment, taking regular outings to places such as the garden centre, park, supermarket, and library. These experiences help children build confidence, develop social skills, and learn more about the world around them.
